Re: Look what i just found
That beats a poke in the eye with a stick any day!! :ARMS1:
Finding a silver coin not only makes my day but it makes my week, the $2 is gravy. |
Re: Look what i just found
My father has an old metal lock box with a few gold and silver certs. in it. A few are pretty crisp. I think the largest denomination he has in there is $10. Possibly even a $20. It's sad to look at them and know they hold no more real value than the current circulating FRNs.

Re: Look what i just found
At the coin show I go to there is a dealer who buys and sells old paper money. Maybe they are worth more than face.

They all have collector's value depending on series and condition. The gold certificates are particularly valuable. I suggest if not already protected, you get them and talk with a reliable coin dealer and get some protective sleeves to store them in, and be sure they are stored out of the light and humidity. Or...............if you are sure they have no value other than circulating FRN's, send 'em to me. I'll give you 2-bucks over face for each bill. |
Re: Look what i just found
I think ya got a piece of history there - did you notice it doesn't say Federal Reserve Note - in my view that is a find for that reason alone.

Re: Look what i just found
Is that a 1963 United States Note?
|
Re: Look what i just found
Yep Yep United States Note series 1953 Not a FRN
|
Re: Look what i just found
1953, never mind. I thought it was a '63 kennedy note.

Re: Look what i just found
Its funny, and sad at the same time, to realize that the two dollar bill (which once would buy four silver halves) will now buy only two silver dimes. The BF half will still buy five silver dimes, just like it always did. :bear_happy:

I wonder if you took that actual two dollar bill to a reserve bank and requested two dollars in gold or silver, whether they'd pay up. They'd probably just pass you two filthy green notes of nothing. Very cool find, Shadowhaven. :bear_cool: |
